1. Always Book Ahead
Don’t just turn up! Subject talks, accommodation tours, and specialised workshops often have limited capacity and fill up fast. Pre-registering online locks in your spot, gives you access to the official event schedule app, and ensures you get notified of any last-minute time or location changes.

2. Plan Your Route & Look for Travel Bursaries
Open day travel costs can add up quickly, especially if you're visiting universities across the country. Check train or parking options early, and always check the university's website for travel bursaries. Many UK universities offer £20 to £100+ to help cover travel expenses for eligible prospective students.

3. Talk to Current Students (Not Just Lecturers)
Lecturers will give you the academic pitch, but student ambassadors will give you the unfiltered reality. Ask them the questions that aren't in the prospectus: What’s the accommodation really like? How is the local nightlife? Is public transport easy? What do you wish you knew before picking this uni?
