What is it?

Automotive Engineering is a specialist branch of mechanical engineering focused on the design, development, and optimisation of vehicles. It covers everything from engines and electric powertrains to vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics, manufacturing, and intelligent transport systems.



You’ll learn how cars work at every level: how engines produce power, how electric motors and batteries deliver torque, how suspension systems affect handling, and how materials and electronics come together to create safe, efficient vehicles.



The field also explores emerging technologies such as autonomous driving, hydrogen fuel cells, lightweight materials, and advanced manufacturing.
