About ORCD UK
ORCD UK is a new, independent UK charity (registration in progress), working alongside ORCD Global, one of Afghanistan's most established local humanitarian organisations. Since 2011, ORCD Global has delivered more than $100 million in humanitarian and development programmes across 34 Afghan provinces, and holds partnerships with seven UN agencies including UNICEF, WFP, and WHO. In 2015, ORCD Global became the first Afghan NGO to receive UN ECOSOC Special Consultative Status.
ORCD UK exists to mobilise UK support, build partnerships, and connect UK donors with this locally led humanitarian work.
We are currently building our board of trustees, our systems, and our volunteer team, this is a genuine founding role.
About the role
The Role
As our Social Media Assistant, you'll help look after ORCD UK's presence on Facebook, and support light, occasional activity on YouTube. The scope is intentionally kept small and manageable, this is about steady, and consistent activity.
What You'll Actually Do
Facebook: post 2 to 3 times per week, using ready-made captions and images from the Brand Kit.
Facebook: reply to simple comments or messages, flagging anything unclear to the ORCD UK Lead.
YouTube: minimal involvement, occasional uploads or light channel upkeep, as and when there's new content, no regular schedule expected.
A short monthly to 6-weeks check-in with the ORCD UK Lead (15 to 20 minutes, online/phone).
Who We're Looking For
Essential
Comfortable using Facebook (posting, replying to comments)
Basic comfort with Canva or similar (templates provided)
Reliable, able to commit to a consistent few hours weekly
Self-motivated, comfortable working from a written brief
Desirable
Experience with YouTube (uploading, basic channel management)
Interest in humanitarian work or international development
Photography or basic video editing skills

Time commitment: Up to 4 hours per week, flexible

Payment: Voluntary, unpaid role
