Classical Greek A-Level

Studying A-Level Classical Greek allows you not only to build on your Classical Greek linguistic skills but also develops your

 understanding of life and culture of the ancient world through the study of prose and verse literature. 

Students will develop their vocabulary and linguistic structures, which will be examined by translations and comprehension. Students will also study two prose set texts, and two verse set texts along with additional relevant literature for context. You will explore, translate and dissect  some of the greats from the ancient Ancient world times such as Plato, Thucydides, Homer, Euripides and Sophocles. 

 

Format

Independent reading and essay-based subject. 

 

Prerequisites

Knowledge of Classical Greek to GCSE or equivalent standard.

Linguistic skills, communication strategies, critical thinking, analyse texts and films, cultural and cognitive flexibility, creativity.
