How does language choice shape the meaning in texts? How can context influence the production and reception of texts?
The English Language & Literature A-Level draws from a range of fiction and non-fiction discourses, allowing the learner to look at stylistics and analyse texts as well demonstrate their own creative skills. It blends and allows for the exploration of different literary and linguistic fields, from established pres-1900 texts to transcript, memoirs and satire. In addition to the analysis and interpretation of discourse, this course also allows students to engage creatively as producers of text themselves.
Students will also develop their understanding of language analysis, from phonetics and phonology to semantics and pragmatics.
