What Is a Computing Degree?
Computing is the study of how computers and technology solve real-world problems. It covers a broad range of areas - from programming and databases to networks, cybersecurity, and software design.
Why Study Computing?
Computing underpins almost every part of modern life, from healthcare and finance to gaming and artificial intelligence. Studying Computing gives you the practical and creative skills to design, build, and manage the digital systems that make everything work.
Most Computing degrees cover:
Programming and software development
Databases and information systems
Computer networks and cybersecurity
Web and mobile development
Data analysis and cloud computing
Systems design and project management
Human–computer interaction
Later in your course, you can usually specialise, for example, in artificial intelligence, game design, software engineering, or data science.
