About the Course

  • What Is a Podiatry Degree?

    Podiatry focuses on diagnosing and treating conditions of the feet and lower limbs. You’ll learn about human movement, foot health, and how to help people stay mobile, relieve pain, and prevent complications, particularly in patients with diabetes, arthritis, or sports injuries.

  • Most Podiatry degrees cover:

    • Professional practice and ethics


    Later in your degree, you may explore areas such as sports podiatry, diabetic foot care, or advanced musculoskeletal rehabilitation.


    Degree Type

    • BSc (Bachelor of Science) or BSc (Hons) - both lead to registration as a Podiatrist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

  • Lower Limb Assessment – analysing foot, ankle, and gait health to identify abnormalities.


    Clinical Treatment Skills – delivering wound care, orthotic management, and musculoskeletal therapies.


    Biomechanics Knowledge – understanding movement, posture, and pressure distribution in the lower limbs.


    Patient Care & Communication – offering clear advice and support across diverse patient groups.


    Diagnostic Skills – recognising and managing foot-related conditions, infections, and chronic diseases.

  • A-levels or equivalent including at least one Science (Biology preferred, but Chemistry, Physics, or Psychology may be accepted). Some universities accept a broad range of subjects.


    • Explain your motivation to work in healthcare and podiatry.

    • Mention any experience in healthcare, sports, or patient support.

    • Highlight communication, precision, and teamwork skills.

    • Show awareness of the podiatrist’s role in mobility and wellbeing.

    Universities may also hold interviews or assessment days, including practical or scenario-based tasks.
